Safe and Civil
At Major Lynn Mokler, we are a Safe and Civil School. The Mokler teachers teach students how to create a safe and civil environment to learn and play by using positive behaviors and attitudes through clear expectations and procedures.

Paramount air monitoring activities
The Paramount USD administration is working with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) to provide our district direction and information regarding the current Chromium 6 investigative process in the City of Paramount. The SCAQMD is the regulatory organization in charge of the air quality in the area, as well as the agency providing information regarding the current investigation.
The SCAQMD has indicated to our district that their action plan includes the placement of testing equipment in district property. School district staff will work with the SCAQMD regarding location and timing of the placement and will provide access to their personnel so that they can complete the testing equipment placement. Additionally, we have asked for information regarding their reports and findings that can be shared with our district community, and they have directed us to their web site, which includes web pages dedicated to information about their air monitoring activities in the City of Paramount, their meetings and processes:
We are looking for Attendance H.E.R.O.s. These are students who are Here, Everyday, Ready and On-time.
Attendance is very important to us. Regular attendance is key to success in school. You can promote this by having your child arrive on time and ready to learn. If your child will be absent, you can report the absence by calling 562-602-8044 or by sending a note to your child’s teacher. Please be prepared to provide your child’s first and last name, date of absence and reason for the absence. If you miss school, you miss out!
Mokler is a Growth Mindset School
The theme for the 2016-17 school year at Mokler School is having a “Growth Mindset.” This includes having an open mind and being accepting of others.
In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities. Teaching a growth mindset creates motivation and productivity in education. - Carol Dweck
Paramount Unified School District is a Safe Haven for Students of All Backgrounds
In our diverse community, we recognize that many students and their families are struggling with questions, concerns and fears about the recent immigration enforcement actions taking place across the state. We work very hard to make our schools safe spaces for learning for every one of our students. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that a child’s race, religion, or immigration status do not create any barriers to their education.
On February 15, 2017, our Board of Education adopted a resolution indicating that our schools are a safe haven for all students and their families regardless of their race, religion, gender, immigration status, etc. By passing this resolution, our district joins several others across the State of California that have already done so on the recommendation of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson.
The Paramount Unified School District embraces the diversity of its students, parents, and community, and views this as something that makes us stronger. This resolution is just one sign of our commitment to all of our students, parents, and community members. Click here for more information.
